Geneva to Evian Les Bains Transfer

France | Apprx 1H 15M From Geneva Airport

Originally an Art Deco spa town and home to the famous mineral water of the same name, Evian sits pretty looking out onto Lake Geneva.

Evian – mineral water and more besides!

As well being famous for the mineral water, Evian is a lakeside spa town that boasts a wonderful promenade along the shoreline of Lake Geneva, beautifully preserved Belle Epoque architecture from the 20s and 30s, a world-renowned golf course, excellent conference facilities and top class hotels with sumptuous pampering too.

Hidden on the hillside you’ll find the Royal Hotel, one of the most luxurious five star hotels in Europe, that played host to world leaders for the 2003 G8 summit. It’s little wonder that Evian attracts visitors for business and pleasure from all over the world. The resort is 50km from Geneva International airport and the journey to Evian with Mountain Drop-offs is spectacular, as you travel along the lake and catch glimpses of the millionaire mansions and glistening waters as you go.

Standing side by side with the art-deco hotels, there are also brand new buildings such as the lakeside Hilton hotel with its swanky Buddha Bar Spa (a great place to go for Sunday brunch, but it is expensive!). The main streets of the town are set back from the lakeside and boast a good mix of restaurants and a small selection of boutiques.

Explore Evian’s lakeside promenade

Back down at the shoreline, there are gardens, play areas and even mini skate parks dotted along the promenade, as well as restaurants and cafes. Make sure you stop by the Fontaine Musicale which puts on a show several times a day with water fountains and music. Evian port has recently been redeveloped and is now a very smart marina welcoming yachts and boats of all sizes into the harbour.

Discover Lake Geneva by boat from Evian

Although Evian les Bains is in France, the Swiss boat operator Compagnie Generale de Navigation (CGN) offers regular links with Lausanne, which is directly opposite Evian on the Swiss side of the lake. Just 13km away by water, many people who live in Evian work in Lausanne. In summer, you can also take the boat to the very picturesque little French town of Yvoire, further up the lake from Evian.

In conclusion, Evian les Bains is still a cut above the rest when it comes to exclusive holidays and short breaks, thanks to the four and five star hotels in resort. If you’re looking for a relaxing, indulgent break, Evian is a great choice and perfect if you’re organising an event or seminar with delegates arriving from all over the world, thanks to the easy access from Geneva.

Evian Masters Golf Course

Evian is an impressive place to play a round of golf, that’s for sure. And whilst we carry golf clubs for free on Mountain Drop-offs transfers to Evian, you don’t need to bring any of the gear, as you can rent everything from golf shoes and clubs to a golf buggy. There are professionals on hand for tuition too at The Academy if you need a little help improve your swing or putting!

Termes d’Evian Spa

Book a massage in the Thermes d’Evian spa centre just next to the Hilton Hotel. More medicinal than just a chill out, there is a plethora of treatments on offer from expert therapists who take a very holistic approach to treatments. There’s a lovely outdoor pool that clients can make use of too.

Source Cachat

Visit the hidden away spring they call Source Cachet. Just uphill from the main town, the buvette is a beautiful art-deco building next to the original water source for the Evian water, the Source Cachat. Join the queue of locals waiting in line to fill their bottles with this fine healing mineral water for free. The water runs freely and it’s exactly the same as the stuff in those bottles we see on the shop shelves!

Lakeside cafes

After the day visitors have all gone, take a seat at one of the many lakeside cafes for an aperitif. Sit back, relax and watch the sunset over the calm evening waters of Lake Geneva. Blissful!

Yummy cuisine

There are oodles of eateries to choose from in Evian, including some very chic and expensive restaurants serving the finest French cuisine. But there is also lots of choice when it comes exotic flavours too. We like the Le Tuk Tuk Thai restaurant and Mexican eatery La Puerta del Sol for something different. But you can’t be the local dish of ‘filets de perche’ – fish from the lake fried in butter, served with chips. We call this posh fish and chips and it’s another favourite when we’re lunching by the lake in Evian.

Weekly market

Wander around the market which takes place in Evian les Bains on Tuesdays and Fridays during the summer.  Watch street performers and marvel at the fresh goodies on sale, whilst you have a coffee in one of the many cafes and bistros en route and do some good old people watching too.

Mini funicular

Take the mini funicular from just behind the Palais Lumiere exhibition hall. This wonderfully restored Art Deco mode of transport takes you up the hillside via the Source Cachat, Hotel Royal, Hotel Splendid and Les Mateirons stops to Neuvecelle. Destined to fall into disrepair, the town decided to renovate the funicular and it re-opened in 2002. What’s more, no ticket is needed, it’s free!

Pre Curieux Gardens

Visit the perfectly manicured Pre Curieux Gardens. Set in the grounds of a gorgeous 1870 colonial style house, these tropical gardens make use of the naturally humid earth (again, it’s all thanks to that thermal water) to grow a superb collection of tropical plants. A truly lovely place to visit, especially in full summer bloom.

Palais Lumiere

For culture vultures, the Palais Lumiere, a former spa hotel, is a must-see. It was renovated in 2006 to create a conference and exhibition centre and there are regular temporary art exhibitions that are well worth a visit. Make sure you check out the impressive statues and the domed ceiling in the entrance hall and look out for the neighbouring Town Hall, which used to be the holiday villa of the Lumiere brothers, who were credited with inventing modern cinema!
